I have an Epson Photo R280 printer. I mostly use it for printing on DVDs and everyday printing, which it does beautifully.
However, when I try to print on any kind of gloss or semi gloss kind of surface, it totally turns to junk. It looks all pixel like, or like big dots. It did this on photo paper, glossy, and now on a CD I am trying to print on that is kind of a gloss finish.
When I tried with the photo paper, I tried changing the paper type and the quality, but to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas? (I'm sure its something stupid I am doing.) I can't look at the manual, either, as we just moved and I don't know where it is.
Chris, I am going to guess first off that one of your setings may be tripping over another. For example I use an R320, just a bit higher on the scale of a Photo printer from a consumer level printer and have no problems such as you are describing so it is not the hardware, per se, unless of course you need to re-align the heads.
When you select Print are you allowing Photoshop to control the Color Management? Or are you allowing the printer to add to Photoshop settings? Are you selecting Glossy in the Properties area?
