I just started working with CS3, after upgrading from Elements 3. (quantum leap).
But I have a few questions.
1. Is there a way I can establish a preset when importing from Bridge to set the image dpi to 300 as the default?
2. Occasionally, I find that although I can select a tool from the pallete, I cannot use it. The "hand" stays over the picture. The only way I can get it to work again is to shut CS3 down and restart it. I am sure I am doing something wrong, bu I cannot figure it out.
3. Is there a simple tutorial on how to establish a base "fixed" image when dealing with a large number of photos, and then use those settings as a batch setting, then allow CS3 to process all of the other images to those settings. I have tried to follow the instructions, but I cannot get it to work.
1. Yes...image processor can do that. There are many ways to go about it...write an action that IP uses when you open them. Others may have better answers.
2. The hand tool is from pressing the space bar...is it broken by chance?
3. Hmmm, for this lightroom or aperture is better suited. Photoshop is more focused on one photo processing. LR and Aperture are batch processing applications. However if you are shooting RAW you can do this in Photoshop. You open one (or more) RAW files. Do your adjustments. Then apply those adjustments to all photos or select 'use previous conversion' from the preset option in Adobe Camera RAW.
Lastly, head over to lynda.com, and pay $25 for a month there. You will be amazed how much you will learn. Register your software too...They used to offer a month for free when you register with Adobe. So do that and check your email for their 'thank you' offer.
1. Yes, definitely. Probably a preference in either Bridge or PS (I don't recall and don't have the program open right now). Best way to change your setting is to look at the bottom of the screen in ARC (Adobe RAW Converter, which opens automatically when you open a RAW file) and see where it tells you what the size and dpi of your image is set for. I think if you click on this, you can set your default.
2. Not sure what's going on here.
3. You just need to create an action as you're editing that first shot. Then you can apply that action to all your other shots by batch processing them (part of the "Automate" menu).
