p.1 #1 · Cleaning circular polarizer?

I have a B&W F Pro circular polarizer that gives me fits trying to clean. Anyone know what works best for this? Any help appreciated.

Hot breath and a linen dish towel. Repeat as necessary. I'm serious.

If hot breath doesn't do the job then spit on it, works for me.

Denatured alcohol and lens tissue and microfiber cloth if the above fails.

Curious...is the B+W CPL a MRC or non-MRC version?

All my B+W's are MRC, and it seems like smudges can easily be wiped off using just about anything. Reminds me of a freshly-waxed car. Perhaps you've got one of the uncoated filters? I always had trouble with Hoya's multi-coated filters, though, and the only thing that worked consistently well was a LensPen.

I posted this link to a general article about filter and lens cleaning from Bob Atkins in a concurrent thread on lens cleaning: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/tutorials/lens_filter_cleaning.html.

Argh

I have found the best way to clean filters including the huge 4x6 ND grads from singray is to buy a bottle of distilled water and some very mild liquid soap with no "extra" ingredients like bleach of anti-bacteria agents.

I then rinse the filter with warm water from the tap and put some soap on my fingers and gently rub the filter clean. I rinse again with tap water and then a final rinse with distilled water. You could simply let them dry at this point or use eclipse pads to dry them.

That's what I've done with my HiTech GND's, after they'd gotten some surf spray on them (that's how I clean my eyeglasses, too).

Been using B+W Kaeseman MRC CPL's...all I need to clean is a little warm breath and a microfiber cloth (even works on finger prints and smudges).

I breath on it and use a lens pen, works better than a shirt for ones that are smear prone.
