Hello. I have a question about printers. A friend of mine has taken up photography as a serious hobby. She takes photos of her kids instead of taking them to a studio for a session for birthday pictures or holiday pictures using a Digital Rebel XTi I believe. Anyway, she wants to print the pictures at home to give out to family members but she also makes all kinds of greeting cards with the pictures and then of course there is text as well on those. Does anyone out there know of a great consumer printer that will give her lasting images, will print well(she does more color than b&w), and will also print nice text on the cards that she makes? OR do I need to steer her toward a lower priced of professional printer like the Epson r1800. I know that she does not want to spend a ton of money on an expensive printer at this point. Please help! Advice/Opinions are greatly appreciated! Thanks, Todd
The R800 comes to mind, the letter sized version of the R1800. If she is willing to go to a 13 inch printer the R1800, or the HP B9180 come to mind. I have two of the latter and they work well have great prints, while they are they same cost of operation as the R2400 I would think it would be a little less than the R1800, but not enough to make a big difference. Also look at the dye based printers, the Epson R1400 and the Canon 9000. HP may have a rebate on the B9180 if they do I go that way.
Have Fun
