I have found that the only app that can deal with the small RAW images from my camera is BreezeBrowser. CaptureOnePro does not even see them, shows only the JPEGs, and of course will do nothing with those. PhotoShop has given me two errors when trying to open an image file. I think PSCS3 says "Could not complete your request because of a program error." PSCS2 says "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." I know I've gotten both messages, but am not certain of the exact situation for the different messages except that they happen with the small RAW.
Has anybody had this happen? Is it just my camera that's broken? Large RAW files are fine.
As I understand it, sRAW files are proprietary to Canon. Basically, anything that will open an sRAW file is either made by Canon, or hacked.
I'm not thrilled with sRAW files. They're a quarter of the MP (2.5 vs 10) but are about 50-75% of the filesize. I can't see myself using a 7MB file for a 2.5mp image. I just went and got a 16GB card, and shooting RAW, I can fill around 1,000 images, depending on the ISO
Thanks Max, that's just what I wanted to hear. I don't care about sRAW, but I wanted to make sure the camera is working as it should be. I have 8MB in both SD and CF, so I'm totin' 16, enough for most anything I need to do.
