Just wondering if there are many here who own or have experience of this lens. I have read a lot of the reviews and it seems that it's a bit plasticky and soft in the corners at max wide. The first bit I suppose I can live with and the second one is to be expected. I have also heard that it's rather prone to flare.
I mostly use my 17-40mm F4L at F8 in Av mode and would expect to do the same with this one if I end up with it (if I decide on a 30D).
When looking at the superb pictures by Peter Kwok http://www.pbase.com/peterkwok/1022
I get tempted to buy this lens. You owe it to yourself to check out
his gallery. Great shots with this lens.
Ditto what khaos posted. Also, ther's no need to use a slim filter either. I've been using a 'normal" B+W Kaeseman CPL and have not experienced any vignetting whatsoever. Also, the 10-22 is considered to be the best in its class with regard to flare resistance when compared to the Sigma 10-20, etc. Its a great little lens. And honestly, the term "build quality" gets tossed around way too much, IMO. The lens seems fine from that standpoint, the barrel doesn't creep, nor does it wobble at all, unlike my Tamron 28-75. If you want to take pictures with it, don't hesitate to get one (hammering nails is another story).
