p.1 #1 · 20 D manual vs Magic Lantern Guide?

I just bought a used 20D which, unfortunately, didn't come with the manual (an English one, at least). I found it on PDF online but would prefer to have something tangible to look at since I am a newbie at this and will be relying on it quite a bit. I understand that the Magic Lantern Guide has a lot of the same info as the manual so it's probably not necessary to get both. Would you suggest getting the MLG over the manual? The manual is cheaper.

The Magic Lantern Guides typically provide more information than the manuals, and typically, features are explained in greater detail. Your choices:

1. Print the pdf file
2. Buy the manual (it certainly covers the bases)
3. Buy the MLG and have computer access to the manual as a backup.

I don't think you'd ever feel a need for the manual if you were to buy the MLG, but I'm not sure that's an answer to the question you're asking.

If you're new to SLRs then the Magic Lantern book is the way to go. I bought one for my first Digital Rebel and it was way more useful (at the time) than Canon's manual.

The manual explains how to do something, the Magic Latern Guide explains how to do it and why it is done that way. If you only can get one, get the Magic Latern Guide. I only look at the manual if I want a quick reference.

The manual is that cheap it's free at Canons download site
