p.1 #1 · #224: road to sea and sky

This was shot last night, just as #223 was closing, and I'm hoping not too early to qualify for #224. Could a moderator make an official judgment about that? If the exif disqualifies me, I'd like to pull this entry and see if I can find something else in the course of the week...
Thanks for looking!

Really beautiful image. I like the greenish color of the illuminated water and reflections of the lights from the distant structures. That sky is amazing. Very nice capture.

I'll be your official moderator for this evening....

I'm fully qualified, so you needn't worry..

For example... I know all about 1337 spEaK. And this is clearly not a vi0Lati0n oF l33t CoDe, so that's just dandy then.

Um... that's where my qualifications run out, sadly.

Yup.

Unless you need an ergonomist. I'm good at that. I think.

Even though I'm a (fake) moderator, I'd like to say:

Lovely. Great colours and compositon.

Thanks Bob! I was glad I had a camera with me; was simply having dinner on the waterfront, and a tripod was out of the question (I don't even have my car with me). Fortunately, the "L" bracket that I use for a quick connection to a tripod also made a reasonably stable interface with a wooden railing. Also glad that I didn't remove it at home to save bulk!

You can be my official publicist. I'll just change the title to "#224: Flibble has made humorous comments, see below"

Oh, and tapping your ergonomic expertise, do you think that I should use a special shoulder harness so that I can carry my Canon G1 and Olympus XA at the same time without pocket crowding causing aches in my thigh muscles?

Ahhhh.... now we're talking... I haven't had to use my ergonomics background for a while - being more concerned with trifiling software usaility issues, but yes... I'm your man.

*cough*

...er.. not in that sense... Mrs. Flibble satisfies those needs - you understand...

Ahem.

Right.

Best advice I can give is that: "the best position is the next position."

Move. Shuffle. Don't remain static.

Yup.

Beatiful image Jess. So much for the simple cul de sac shot by my house, you set the bar very high for this week.

I beg your pardon sir!

Yup.

I try not to retain static, either, which is easier in this humid climate than it was in the southwest.

I've gotten pretty good use from the Kinesis waist belt system, but if I could only master the TeleKinesis system, that would really make things easier on the body.

Thanks Christian. I know that you and a number of others will succeed in clearing the bar and pushing it higher.

Thank you Nick! I so rarely get to relax in such surroundings, and the meal was excellent, so the opportunity for a photograph was almost a bonus. In the long run, though, the image may stick with me more than the other memories of the moment. I love photography!

Jess......very lovely image, let's not fret about just a few minutes of EXIF
(my unofficial non moderator idea).
I also like the color and the tones are very smooth.

You must be looking west, that star must be a setting Jupiter
great shot!
Peter

Yes, the view is almost directly west. The sun had disappeared just a short while earlier from what became the center of this frame, and the bright star which was (I think) just a few degrees north of west must be (again, I think!) Jupiter.

Thanks Peter!

Thank you. As musician to musician, I know that you are anything but all thumbs - where did you get three of them?

Jess, this is wonderful. As others have stated, this certainly raises the bar!!! Good luck--I would place a good bit of money that you will be in the finals with this one. Jess, where was it taken? Did I take it that you are out of town traveling?

I would never bet on finals picks, but thanks much for the compliment!
This was taken in Beaufort, NC, during a concert tour. I returned home this afternoon. It felt strange to be able to find a WA subject without much chance to hunt, and then to have internet access and have my laptop along was good fortune! Of course I could have uploaded the photo after my return, but doing everything while out on the coast added to the satisfaction somehow.

Jess,

I want to extend my belated congratulations for capturing this beautiful scene, and for your ability to see this in the context of the WA. It is simply gorgeous. Congratulations on making the finals.

Best regards,
Robert
