Hi,
I am interested in digital infrared with my Canon 20d> Any suggestions how to start off: Hoya R72 or RM90 filter. I do have a 24-70 F2.8 and 17-40 F4 lens. Will this give me hot sotrs?
Consider having the camera converted to infrared only through one of the sites you can google (IR guy or Lifepixel). The advantages are major if you can afford to dedicate the camera to infrared. The IR filters can force you into half second exposures where you can't get a sharp image with leaves or grassing moving in a breeze. Enjoy.
Besides with a IR converted camera you will see through the viewfinder normally but if you put a IR filter in the lens in a regular camera you will see nothing.
crazy_dutchman,
I have gotten great results with a Hoya R72 with my 10D and 5D. Just need long exposures............ Here is a shot taken with my 5D with a Hoya R72 mounted to a 28-105 f/3.5-4.5
I had my 20D converted by maxmax and it has been terrific. Fast service, good follow-up support. Maxmax puts a IR filter over the exposure meter and also the focusing appartus so that the camera acts basically llike a point and shoot. No focusing adjustments needed.
