p.1 #1 · #223: broken ecosystem

Broken tree, broken environment, the break between the wild and the paved.

Can hardly believe that I found this scene and the chance to borrow a web connection so that I can avoid a break in my participation in the WA.

Hi Jess, you don't want to mention "broken" too many times. You might jinx yourself... I love the saturation in thse colors, the yellow curb and blue in the shadow throw the greens into shapre.

Ahhh.

Ahhha haha.

Sorry. Was being a pirate for a minute there.

*slap*

Right.

Nicely done. Nothing lives forever. But nothing really stands a chance when we break it. I'd like to think that the tree would have been fine, but for the fact that us idiotic hoomans decided to build some tarmac over it.

Will we ever learn to co-exist on this planet?

Is "shapre" a portmanteau of sharp and relief, or just the shape of things retro?
The jinx worked, it foiled spell check and auto-correct!

Thanks, and I will thank Fred for Digital Velvia, which I applied to portions of the image.

Thank you. I feel lucky already to have spotted it and imagined what I could do with it.

Trees are always so symbolic Jess -
It has been a symbol in painting throughout history...
"Tree of Life, etc."
You may have broken the code in this one-

Nice shot, Jess! The concept is wonderful but I'm not entirely sure this ecosystem looks all that broken. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder but apart from the little bit of asphalt in front this ecosystem looks pretty verdant. Trees die all the time of natural causes. Anyway, I love the photo so don't take me too seriously.

All the best,

Endre

Oh, I would never take you too seriously! Actually, I agree that the place is clearly teaming with life, so it's more the physical breaks in the tree and the break between wetland and asphalt that apply to the topic, rather than my hi-falutin ecosystem of the title.
