Indeed. A very common object. Looks better in black and white...although it's generally not very multi-colored anyway

I had never seen the inside of one. Should have guessed from the sounds some of them make that they'd use a belt drive. Nice shot!

Thanks Jess. I never throw anything out and had a damaged cd writer that "I wil get fixed some day", I was intrigued by the odd forms that looked like a robotic face.

I've never seen the inside of a CD burner either although I use one all the time. The B & W is perfect.

Thanks Wilson. I repair my own computers ad there is some pretty impressive engineering going on inside our PCs.

There's even more impressive engineering going on inside of our macs

I just had to say that because I've only recently opened my PowerBook up (I used to repair PC laptops so I've seen all sorts) and was thoroughly impressed.
