p.1 #1 · Contax 50/1.7 fin collision with 5D2...doh!
Saw my sister last weekend and fauned over her 5d2. In the course of showing her this summer's lens acquisitions, we popped on the C/Y 50/1.7, and to my surprise, the fin caught the mirror. I had not remembered from the PebblePlace guide that it was in the iffy category. Sis cringed, but the camera was fine.
Does this fin serve any purpose on the 50/1.7, or can I file that sucker down? If no purpose, then why on Earth did Contax go to the trouble of machining so many fins on so many different lenses? Was there a need to shield some portion of the rear of the lens or mirror in Contax 35mm bodies? I don't get it.
