Hi All
Anyone got any views on good 24mm alts for around the £100-150 mark
Been looking at the Oly 24 2.8 variants, some of which are MC and others aren't.
What out the Tamron 24mm f2.5 adaptall, seems to go for about £100
I'm not looking for anything with a fast aperture, 2.8 or slower is fine by me.
I'm looking for something that stopped down to f8 or so will be sharp into the corners, and have nice contrast and nice colour. Bokeh is not too important to me at this focal length.
For the $$ spent it's hard to beat the Oly - I have seen a big enough difference to say the MC & later version (without MC & H.Zuiko labels) it's just labeled Zuiko - with later serial numbers - are worth the extra effort to find.
Another 24mm that has really quite good IQ is the Sigma Super-Wide - manual focus - you would need to get the Nikon or Oly version and adapt to Canon EF. It's hard to find info on that lens but the copy I have is just as good and maybe better IQ than the Oly - the Oly has a better build - the color and sharpness of the Sigma is.... maybe better. The Sigma also has a macro setting that is pretty good for close-ups.
I love the sharpness and colors with my Olympus 28/2.8. I expect the 24 would be similar. I believe the 24/2 has a floating element, while the 2.8 doesn't. That may or may not make a difference to you.
