I have a need for an UWA TS lens... but I am shooting Nikon FF (two D700s) now. Like many here, I left Canon for Alt glass years ago, but moved back to Nikon FF bodies when the D3 and the 14–24/2.8 lens appeared.
I have been using this lens effectively for architectural interiors, but there are many compromises. Camera placement is restrictively critical, and (if you want to avoid correcting in post) relatively limited in all interior situations. And as everyone knows, DOF is based on aperture and focal length with standard zooms or primes.
What are the options for the Nikon shooter? I am envious, frankly, of Canon F shooters with the new 24 TS-E II and the 17 equivalent, and the fact that you can adjust the tilt plane independently of the shift plane is TS heaven.
Will I have to buy a used 5D again Seeing how much better the Distagon 21/2.8 wide open was than the older 24 TS-E (Mk I) was what took me away from Canon in the first place. And am I right in recalling that the 5D does not have Live View, though? I use this for every shot when using the 14–24, for many reasons. I don't think the 5D finder would facilitate critical focus re. tilting, either. So—is my only option the 5D II?
I would have to keep the D700s (on one of them, at least); I love the ergonomics and the high-ISO performance, but *really* want that 17.
No independently adjustable tilt axis, and for interiors, 24mm is often not wide enough. And diglloyd's review of both the new Canon lenses, re. optical quality and the independent tilt axis control is compelling—but I shoot Nikon!!!

Well said. That's why I shoot both platforms. Just yesterday I shot with my 5D and 24mm TS-E for a lot of the interior work on an estate assignment. But the estate also has a barn and stables. I was asked to shoot not only the barn/stables, but also the horses w/riders jumping. For that, I used my Nikon D2x in high-speed crop mode with their 70-200 f/2.8 VR.
