Mark me down for voting for the first one. For whatever reason, the brightness makes it seem sharper, which is what I prefer for this shot. Also, the second one has a much more noticeable blue hue, especially at the bottom right. Top one shows off the snow on the trees better as well.

Tim,
I hate to disagree with T-bone (not really ).
But I prefer the second one (with the color tinge removed). I'm a registered contrast freak, though, so what do I know?

Why do you want to hurt me, Charlie?
Ha-ha!
As you were...
Thanks guys. Seems like the toning isn't exactly a hit. It is very hard for me to process snow. Relocating from southern Cal puts me behind the curve a bit.
Nice work here. I like #1, though the perspective brings my eye to the opening between the trees more than the fence. In the second, the fence is definitely the primary element and the opening is dark enough that it no longer attracts my attention. Either image would make a nice print.
Tim, B&W for me (of course). for the snow, you might try the Charlie Crammer selection technique (on Luminous Landscape). in this manner you would isolate the snow in the foreground and deal with it alone.
I like the composition and fence
