Until the end of October my friend Mark operated a small antique store where I often found interesting photo subjects and many opportunities for interesting conversation. Business just wasn't good enough and he felt it necessary to shut down and as he put it, "get a real job". Too bad; I'll miss the photo ops and the talking; my wife won't miss all the "accessories" I've been bringing home.
Perhaps not a "stellar' photo, this still captures the essence of Mark and his little business; the dark recesses of hidden treasures, the always open door and his ready smile. Very lovely portrait and nice commentary. The sign as well as the little things in his shop really make this image. I am surprised by the quality of the DP-1 as well. I should maybe try to invest in this little gem as well
Thanks for the comments. I have been quite impressed by the DP1, in spite of its warts. It is slow but I find this encourages me to slow down and think about what I'm doing. Very different from when I'm using my "other" camera, a Pentax k20D.

The first impression I had was how appropriate the sign was to your description of the man.
Stepping into these sorts of small shops is like stepping into another world where time seems not to matter. I hope your friend finds himself gone just temporarily.
