How much better is the 7880 compared to the 7600. Is it vastly superior or do you really have to look hard and be an expert buyer to notice the quality difference (if any)

No contest—get the 7880. It's vastly superior.

Or if you want to save some money, pick up a 7800 used instead of the 7880. The 800 series is still vastly superior to the 600 series, and only marginally below the 880 series.

Agreed .The 7880 is much better than the 7600.

The only exception is if you do matte only printing. The improvements there are not as great as with photo black.

Best,
M

Ok the 7880 it is - arriving later today. Ill knock off some tests using the 7600 and the 7880.
Another question I have always printed using the Matte black ink on hahnemuhle 308 Photorag. Would it be worth trying the photoblack ink with this paper or is it going to be just awful?
I suppose I would have to have a bespoke profile made but if it was 95% there in terms of blacks then it would be worth switching to the photoblack ink and staying there.
I fancy trying the new Bayrta hahnemulhe paper.

cheers

P

It will be awful and the image will appear to be washed out. Don't waste the ink on the swap.
