I have a photo assignment for a local San Diego area Magazine with the topic of "Giving Back". The photo will be a cover shot, but I am coming up empty. I could really use your ideas for what would make a great cover shot with the theme of "Giving Back." I am looking for something simple. Thank you for your help.
*Giving back to the seniors in the family, especially if you can catch children with the aging adults.
*Caring for animals that we think of as serving people, such as grooming a cow, playing with an older dog, especially a K9 corps dog.
*Serving the returning soldiers, any event where war vets are taking part.
*Serving the community guardians, such as handing a cup of coffee to a police officer, fire fighter, life guard.
*Teens doing an activity to raise money for a good cause, such as a car wash to help disaster victims.
*Almost any kind of volunteer work, such as soup kitchens, assistance to refugees, senior center, clearing trash from a public park.
*Caring for the environment with an organic garden patch.
If it were me, I'd call several social service agencies to find out what kind of activities they might have going on that represented volunteering, I'd go to the park looking for family picnickers, a senior center, anywhere that generations of people are likely to be interacting. I'd also ask about what other kinds of "giving back" stories the magazine was planning to include as coverage of the topic. There might be a great photo op among those things already lined up for the story.
