I have had this printer for 3 years now and definatly got my moneys worth out of it. It prints fine to mat paper, but leaves roller marks on on Illford Pearl. Looking at the prints on this paper, there is a fine meshlike appearence, for lack of a better word.
I do use the photo black, and increase the drying time for the ink. The printer was serviced about 6 months ago and cleaned.
Perhaps the printer is just getting old and needs to be replaced by the 3800?
Hoping someone had any ideas of what may be the problem here.
Not sure, your description of "fine meshlike" could be one of a few things. I've had similar faults on my 2200. In one case it was just a bad cart. Test pattern looked OK. No amount of cleaning would cure it. It finally went away when the cart was replaced.
In another case I went out of alignment (after about 3 years). Realignment worked.
In another case, the falut mysteriously disappeared after 2 8x10 prints of the same image. Kind of like a "warm up" problem. My 2200 sits idle for long periods of time. All my faults were fine horizontal lines, nothing in the vertical. Much more obvious on coated papers than matt. I've never had "roller marks", but believe they would be mostly vertical lines and widely spaced.
So try the normal drill - clean, check test pattern, check alignment. If possible, try to print from a different computer, to eliminate software as the culprit.
