Basically I did this for myself (and someone emailed me asking if I had done this comparison. so I'm sure others are interested.) If I didn't do something the way you want it, tough. Get both cameras and try it yourself. This is as close as I can get it to work.
The zip file has a Canon 5D .cr2 and a Canon 5DII .dng.
I ran both through Lightroom to compare. I made no extra sharpening other the what I use as a starting point.
The image is just stuff from around the studio for color, detail and such.
Both cameras with Canon 50mm/1.8 AF lens, tripod, mirror up, dark room, F11 at 1/160. The 50mm is the only 50mm fixed focal I have, I don't use a 50mm much. ISO 100
I have run a Macbeth chart for both cameras through the DNG Profile Editor to use in Lightroom for color calibration profiles. Colors are pretty much the same for me.
The calibration profiles won't be of any use to anyone else, since those don't get imbedded.
I have been really looking forward to a test like this since the 5DII was announced. Thanks to the OP for taking the time to do the test and share it. I printed both on 13 X 19 epson premium luster paper on an epson 2400 and compared the two side by side. In that size, the difference is much less than you would think. In the text on the two bottles, while still not really legible, the 5DII was a little sharper and the 5D was a little blurred. So now the question to compliment my 5D is 5DII or 1DIII?
After staring at pics of dollar bills, brick walls and such, it was a pleasure to see such a well thought out, albeit, spur of the moment test stage, with lots of color and variety. Thanks!

Thanks. The difference between 21MP and 12.7 sounds like more than it looks.
The original 5D is one heck of a value.
I think that's because a lot of people automatically assume it means the image is nearly 2x as big. It has nearly 2x as many pixels but is no where near 2x wider in dimensions.
