p.1 #1 · Mini E-Session (12 Images)

Would like your opinions - we were limited to time and locations, so the shots lack variety...I really need to work on my positioning of the subjects, I feel, as well. Crits/comments are welcome!

i really enjoy the diversity in these images - some serious, some fun, some lovey - a really well-rounded series, and they appear to be very comfortable with you and in front of the camera.

i'm a little confused about the ring shot - only because they look like wedding bands - but are worn on their right hands and it's an engagement session.

also a bit odd that you chose to use a single shot of her arm against the wall but she's not wearing an engagement ring little details, but if you're using them in your portfolio it might make a bride pause and go, huh? keep an eye on hands in general in your images - some amputated, some claws, some weird positions (like in the right frame where's she's on his back.)

also really like the processing - especially on the urban images.

nice work.

Very nice! I love the positioning and PP on the 2nd and 3rd one!
To answer "ksmahgrts" question concerning the rings, all I know is that in Spain (& perhaps in other countries as well?) the custom is to wear engagement (& wedding) bands on the right hand. So if this couple is not from the US or has adopted foreign country customs, this could be why their bands are not on the left hand. Jeremy may step in and correct me if I am wrong

Very nice, but get rid of the hand. Looks weird. Love the last one.

the picture with the hand on the wall is somehow disturbing... i really like all the others. Good mix of tones, locations and poses.

Thanks everyone for the comments thus far. I agree, the hand image I will switch up with another, farther crop of them in the alley area.

But overall, not too bad? Lifestyle/e-sessions I'm quite new to, so if I dropped the ball anywhere else, let me know. Looking at the images shot in total, I really wish I had been a bit more inventive with my angles and left room for more interesting crops on some shots...another thing I've learned is that I should be shooting way more frames (the number lost to one person blinking, starting to crack a smile, etc are quite unfortunate...). Thanks again.

Very nice! We're you using supplemental lighting for any of these images?

Great series of images. I like the variation in composition, point of view, expression and emotion. The processing works for me too. My only comment along those lines is that the processing/color seems quite different in #1 & #11 than the rest of the images. You've established a nice, consistent aesthetic through the rest of the series and I think it would be even stronger if #1 & #11 shared the same processing.

A very minor point, though, and some may not agree. Overall it's a wonderful series!

Thank you for the kudos, Joshua. Supplimental lighting was used for all of the images besides the last one, single 800w strobe and assistant with reflector.

Badlydrawnboy, I've considered that exact same thing myself. I think, at least with the first shot, it just 'popped' so much for me as is that I didn't want to play with it, and left it pretty much as it came from the camera. I will go back and run it through my Actions process and see how it comes up, however!

Nice shots. My personal opinion, on #2, she is too blurred. I think slightly less would be better. But, of course, subject to taste. Great shots thought.

Nice work, love the subdued and quiet/comfortable feel they all have. great use of alternating b&w and desat color!
I too love the last one best! Keep up the good work!
