I'm the amateur photog, the young man here is my cousin and I did a shoot gratis for them (actually, it will be their wedding present from me). I wasn't sure whether to post these here or in the People forum, but here they are. These were shot in Deep Ellum, Dallas.
The last two are pretty nice. Their chose of wardrobe doesn't look like it made the task any easier, but all and all not a bad set. The gate one is the only one that I could do without - it has a little bit too much negative space that doesn't interest me or enhance the mood.
Great work man! I love the vibrancy you have here. There is just enough color without looking overdone. Saturation add is easy to do but hard to master. I think the outfits are just fine. You chose good contrasting backgrounds to lift them away from it.
I normally don't like embellishments etc on images but you last one is done very tasteful. The pose is so good. He appears so masculine and her, so feminine. I love it. Great work, hope to see more from you.
Their wardrobe did catch me off guard at first, but I was eventually glad for it given the location where we were shooting. I didn't really give them any direction on what to wear, and this location would've been much more challenging by loud or busy clothing, so I got lucky there. I guess that's something I should focus on a bit more
(if I do any more of these), preparing for the shoot, both myself and the subjects.
Thanks everyone, I sincerely appreciate the comments.
If I was to pick one it would be 5 because I can see there faces and playfulness in them. I like 1 for him but I must be toooo senstive to conflicting backgrounds. His face is a natural and you captured that but you added the brick wall - when I cover the wall the focus goes right to his face and that you really got a good one.
Her pic is a little harder so the blue wall pose really captured her well. For the brick wall I would have liked to see a shot with you even with them and lower then them also (and maybe you did). You have a very creative style...maybe you could post some of the wedding pics later..

Ha! Thanks for the vote of confidence Paul, but they hired a pro! I didn't even offer to do it for them, and probably would've declined if they asked. Never done a wedding before, and don't think I'd want my first to be my own family.
These are great! I'm doing some engagement pictures on Monday and these have really inspired me and lifted my spirits. I won't have anywhere near as much colour to work with but have a decent venue - a stately home (mansions if you like), with nice stone steps, great brick walls and little details etc.
