p.1 #1 · Editing Fun :)

A local Photographer took this in Charlottesville, Va and he really liked the old time feeling, but he wanted me to change the scene to a more vintage time period and so I did some editing.
Rather than tell you what I did I want to see if you can spot all the changes
Thanks 4 looking and any comments are always appreciated.

Hi Susi,

I think it all works, except for the guy washing the sign. His costume doesn't appear to quite fit the period. The addition of the "period" cars in the background is pretty slick though.

Susi,

That is really neat! I love the old 1953 Chevy and Oldsmobile, and the movie poster. It looks just like a scene from half a century ago.

Thanks Arka and Bill!
Arka, the photographer really likes the guy 'changing the letters' on the marquee so he did not want me to change him. I agree that another clothing style would look more vintage though.
I appreciate you taking the time to comment!

Wow Susi; that's why you get the big bucks. Fantastic stuff. Agree with the clothes issue, but you just can't win them all. As long as the client is happy, that's all that matters anyway (he is paying the bill).

Susi I really love this. It's like looking at those kid's magazines in the old dentist office-"can you fine all the different animals in this scene"

A little story here. Back in the mid-80's my wife and I went to the Maine Photographic Workshops for a week. One evening we went driving and found this little theater in a little town with the over-hang marque like this one. There was this little old man greeting people, and he was dressed in one of those usher uniforms complete with the hat. To top it off, the movie we saw was a brand new Michael J. Fox movie-"Back To The Future". This shot reminded me of that experience-thanks.

I hate to be too critical but there were two things that jumped out at me. I drive my wife crazy when we go to a movie and I point out continuity issues with the film. Anyway, the plastic milk crate is not of that period. They were made of wire back then. Also, 'It's A Wonderful Life' was first run in 1947. The 1950's cars are futuristic for the time.

It looks like a fun project and you always do great work. I always look for your posts.

Thanks Chris and Coffee..
I wasn't really after accurancy, and hey 'Wonderful Life' still plays here < but only at Christmas so I guess I should make it snowing here..
I was wondering when someone would catch that though, fun to see what people 'see'..
I guess the crate should be wooden, but since this was done for a neighbor who asked me to do this as a favor, I decided to let that slide, although it would be cool to shoot an old coke crate and interject, there is really so much more that can be done. I think some bikes leaning against the movie house would be cool.
Good catch on the shadow Chris, Photographer hasn't noticed that yet!
Thanks again!

Susi,

Great work! I really love the feel of this edit. I did notice a couple of things you might want to revisit though: clothes on guy (already mentioned), milk crate should probably be changed to a wooden box, and the sign on the lamppost is too modern.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
James
