Awhhh my favorite hawk as either of the pair is almost always at the trout hatchery looking for and getting a hand out. The real fun starts when one is roosting and an osprey comes in and snatches a fish from an open tank and tries to get off with it. Not to be as the RedTail is air-borne and in attack mode and the osprey has to drop the fish to defend itself.

Great shots Lou! he really seemed cooperative. guess he was concentrated on the fish below
Is that a woodpecker nest I would hate having such a neighbour above
Super job Lou. I am inclined to believe than some people are destined (through observations and hard work) to come upon situations like this and be able to take advantage of them. Look forward to more!

Nice shots...

THanks Lil I find it so hard to delete a god photo just because it is the second of a burst so most of these I kept the 40D in SS for better control of me.

Thanks Tim and I am sure they will be bringing little ones for a fish dinner. I would venture into the woods by the hatchery in serch of a nest but twice now I have gotten myself covered with ticks and dam they are small little bastards and hard to find. I'll have to wear Petes white linemans manhole throw away suit to look for them. I promised Pete I would let him take my photo in it if I do it.

Hi Neillo well no he/she is watching the guy working below as he is the fish thrower This bird was very calm this day and only flew from me once and than allowed me to come near enough for almose a FF photo with the 40D and the 1 to 400. Now what is this about a woodpecker Or do you mean the wind blowing the feathers?

PS I just see what you mean and that is the hole in the pole and I don't think so but it is an old pole so maybe at one time.

Thanks Shelley and I am going to print it 12 X 18 and if it looks good I may go for one a bit larger on canvas. My buddy Pete is freaked out on large size canvas prints and he has done some really good ones and big.
