It is not a bad price, but would like to go cheaper than that. In the US that might be possible.

Thats still not a bad price when you factor in the Import charges that Customs will charge you for importing items of O/S. $1700 USD Is around $1820 AU$, Then you have to add GST and whatever other customs charges once it's been imported, So your really not saving much. Then there is the issue of warranty (Nikon Australia won't cover repairs on imports) But DD Photo offer a 1 year warranty (You send it back to them, The will send it off for repairs). Something else to consider.
I'm surprised at how much it's dropped over the last few months! Its dropped about $550 (Au$) since the start of the year, I'm seriously tempted to buy one, But I think I will keep saving and get a D3 instead.....
this friday & saturday the shop i go to is having it's spring trade show.
the D300 is $1599 and the D3 is $4499. my friemd is going to pic up a D300, and i might pick a 2nd one up for myself.
