Hello everyone,
These are my first attempts at shooting hummingbirds. Not up to some of the awesome shots here on the forum but this is my first attempt. C & C always welcome.

Congrats on a new one for ya. It's always exciting to get that first one on the hard drive
Looks like the focus was on the Feeder. You also want to photograph them in a more natural environment like : Sitting on a branch, flight shot with it feeding on a flower etc etc............. Bird feeder shots just don't have the same feel to them.
I am sure you were excited as these were your first attempts at these little fast fliers.
Try attaching a bare branch somewhere close to the feeder. These guys like to protect and keep their food source to themselves > They will usually chase other hummers off. If you can get the branch in a favorable open spot that the hummer likes you can get some great shots of him coming and going from the branch etc etc...

Anthonty is correct in his advice Joe. If the feeder is close to an area where you can place a chair do it. Let the hummers get used to seeing you there with camera. I place my feeders on an iron plant hanger. This gives the hummers a perch just above the feeder or off to one side or the other. I also place a piece of firm electrical (rubber coated) wire just above the top of the feeder and make a perch. Most of the time the hummers will rest, look around then feed.
