Those pretty much tell the 'wet' story. Some birds don't look so good wet Some birds are still quite pretty Sure adds great saturation to colors! A different look, nice rainy day shooting.

Poor guys, all but 1 looks miserable. Nice shots, I really like 1 but the others really convey the conditions. 2-4 the blurred white, blossoms(?), kind of pull one's attention away from the subjects.

Number 1 has beautiful colours. I agree with Tim about the white in the foreground. but they sure look wet.

I just want to say that these are super sharp & amazing color. Too bad about the white blossoms. The 200-400VR sings on the D3.

Congratulations

Hi Guys,

In the Tifs and prints the blossoms have a lot of pink on them, which blends well. We are due another three inches (7.6 cm) beginning this afternoon. What a mess!

Lil and Harsha, I debated for some time over whether the get the 300 f2.8 (which I was used to using on my Canons) or the big zoom. Mostly I was worried about sharpness. I think I made the correct decision for me because the 200-400 range is so versatile, and the image quality is excellent. That said, I rarely used the Canon 300 f2.8IS on a tripod, and rarely use the big Nikon zoom without a tripod. I can hand hold it at a single focal length (it is too big and heavy to hold and zoom at the same time), even at slow shutter speeds, but after a couple of weeks using it on a large ball head, I bought the Wimberly II head, which now seems to form one large integrated unit with the 200-400 zoom.
