Welcome back Josh! don't worry we've been keepin' the forum busy for ya
Nice images you got...I really like #7, it has a nice composition and he's checking you out
I'm sure it's been as busy as ever. For #7 I was actually in a canoe... that presents a whole other set of obstacles, yet also provides some neat opportunities.
Some birds are still easily spooked (kingfishers, GBH for starts) yet others don't seem to mind the prospect of a boat drifting towards them. The whole series which includes #7 shows the bird progressively filling the frame until we got too close for the 400 to focus. This one's pretty much full frame.
Earlier in the day, we were trying so hard to get a good shot at a great horned owl up in the trees that we drifted into a log with 2 perfectly perched spotted sandpipers and flushed them away.... If I had of seen them it would have been the shot of the day for sure.

Nice series with variety. #10 is my favorite. Good luck with busy times ahead and don’t forget FM
Harsha
Thanks Harsha. These snakes are pretty amazing swimmers... this one was easily 4' long.
I'll keep up with FM... I just need to stay around places with internet access

Hi Josh,
nice selection. Hard to pick favorites here, but # 7 is sweet cause it looks like the swallow is looking at you. And # 9 has appeal to me, because it just feels right. # 10 is just plain "kewl" using Anthony's vocabulary....
Lil
The swallow was certainly watching me.

Hey, Josh, I've been wondering about you. Nice to have you back, I know how life can get in the way of photo's. You haven't lost your touch. 7 is priceless.
Tim
Thanks Tim. I'm mostly healthy, just running around like a nut case trying to come to grips with this whole life after school and "career" thing.

Hi Josh, like the thought of that trip into Maine, boy I miss that area. Some nice pictures you have offered up. I count your first shot of the snake as a warm up because I know you did not mean to put him that centered I like the feel in #3, just good muted colors, #6 is my favorite and what a great shot and expression in #7 Water snake is cool and fairly large looking too. Great to see you back........take care and take pictures
Karl
Ah I loved it there. I've spent some time on Canada's east coast but this was my first foray into Maine. We didn't have long but it was probably enough to get a taste for the place.
Nearly every part of the state which I saw was full of nice old growth forest. By contrast, in Southern Quebec (where we crossed the border) farmland dominates. I suppose for Canada, this part of the country is decent agriculture, but for the US, there is no real reason to try and farm intensively in Maine (ok, except for blueberries etc.).
We stopped in at Acadia NP... I'll get some pics up from that in the next few days. Beautiful area. I could see myself living somewhere like that.
As far as the first shot.... I thought he looked cartoonish (does this allow me to crop him into the centre?)

Looking for seabirds.
