The males of this species go very dark I think when they reach sexual maturity.
Shots are of a spider I caught in the house and trapped in an upside down mini- aquarium thing I made last year from glass microscope slides. I did release it after

Looks like he has been dusting for you. He does have a very "long in the tooth" look abotu him. Great shots.

Yes I was shooting through the glass but microscope slides are fairly good quality glass - just has a slight loss of contrast.
