Hi all,

This is my first photo like this. Ussually I take landscape photos.

This was taken at a local place called Walker's Gardens, it's sort of a very nicely landscaped house.

Anyways, I'm not 100% sure about it, I know that I sort of like it, but then again I don't.

Comments and critisism welcome.

Thank you,

Joe Conklin

I sort of like it too One thing when shooting a subject like this to keep in mind is that it will always pay to "exhaust the subject"

Shoot it from every conceivable angle and position until you nail it and then shoot some more. It really works in situations like this were you are kind of wishy washy in regards to how you feel about the photo.

The tonality looks nice, very Tri-X in D76 like. I do think the shadows in the central lower region are blocking up a bit too much and distracting me. I'd like to see some tonal info there.

It's always fun to shoot detail when you're out shooting landscapes.

Framing is good with the centre at bottom. I think it is better to get only part in to suggest the rest as you have done. Black and white is good for this item.

The shaft kind of nags at me because I can't tell what this is part of. More bokeh would be better?

The fact that the bolt is not sharp kind of bothers me.

A bit more space below hub might improve.

I agree with Jammy on both count - lots of angles and more detail in dark areas.
