My second effort on posting insects. Was just working in the yard and shooting a few flowers and got ready to go in my sunporch when I spied this little guy. Had built this nest in the crack of the overhang and was peering down at me. I give lots of credit to you guys and gals that do such a wonderful job on these all the time. It took a lot of neck twisting and such to get some decent angles.
Canon 100 macro with diffused 430ex flash and a few with a 1.4x TC too. Working on the handheld part, pretty cooperative subject but difficult to get to.
Wow. great series, Karl, #1 and #3 are my favs of a fantastic behavioral series. Have never seen eggs in the nest before. Hope you are not allergic - getting so close to the nest.

Wonderful series
This is one situation where I'd be very careful how the wasp was reacting to my presence
Brian V.
Appreciate the tip on that Brian, wasn't sure of the agression status. Thanks for the look and comments

Great set Karl, last being my favorite... it is hard to shoot them when they are working on their nests like that... you did a great job.
Thanks Coder, caught her end of day returning, seemed pretty relaxed with me there shoving a lens in her face with a big flash going off !

Wonderful series, Karl. Be careful!! Wondering what the difference is between a wasp and a hornet. Guess I could google...

Karen, the intimidating look was seen in the viewfinder, first time I attempted this, it was pretty cool to see.
