Thankyou for the ID and compliment, in my Birding Book I also had the Black-crowned Night Heron pegged but the picture that my book shows has different wing feather colors.

Paul the adult is white/gray/black.
Juveniles are tan spotted/striped....there may be a bit of tan residue showing here.
Definitely adult BCNH colors though
