Well yesterday marked the opening of the local Aussie Rules competition. The first thing I learnt was that its not just the players who get a bit rusty over the summer. After doing maiinly surfing for the last few months it took me quite a while to adjust and try and keep up with the play. Anyway here are a few shots from the two games I saw on Saturday.

9) AFL is probably the only sport where officials (umpires) are required to have ball skills. This quick sequence I put together shows a centre bounce by an ump. These were all taken using the 400 5.6 L. I have found this great for surfing and can get some really nice sharp Footy pics, but I would love to have a fast zoom. The fixed length is a bit of a restriction

I like the first shot the best, great work all round.
With the high mark shots, i think they could do with the ground in the shot to give reference to the height some of those guys can get. I'm guessing the backgrounds could then become a problem.
