Now we are talking! These definately are up there as some of the best shots I have seen from Anza-Borrego this year. I love your perspectives, but specifically the lighting in these, where the flowers could shine but not get blown out by too bright of light.

When did you shoot these?
Well done!

Jim,
I went the third week of March. Best light was in the morning and front lighting gave the best color saturation. Thanks for the comments!
Nice set of images. I especially like #2. One thing I noticed, there is a old tree trunk sticking up in front of a boulder right above the yellow flowers. It caught my attention at once. Maybe something to clone out?

Yep, looks like Henderson and Coyote Canyons.. I was there this past weekend.. Flowers were on the downward slide vey quickly with the heat..
Nice colors and comps....
When I was there it was a couple of days after the peak period.
So this flower spectacular usually happens around mid-to-late March? My sister and brother-in-law live in San Marcos on the north side of San Diego, at least I think that's where it is. Where is this place relative to San Diego proper?
And I agree -- gorgeous work. And this was a couple days PAST peak? Even more impressive.
Chip, Anza Borrego is east of San Diego. Take Rte. 78. It's about a two hour drive over mountains to the heart of the park. Lots of variety in elevations so the wildflowers will continue to bloom for weeks in the higher elevations. The Visitors' Center is at Borrego Springs. That's a good place to go to get a full orientation.
This year the peak on the valley floor at Coyote Canyon and Henderson Canyon seemed to be right around the time we were there. March 15th to 20th. It varies every year. Anza Borrego has a spring wildflower watch at their website which helps with timing.
