I don't remember seeing a Brown Thrasher on the N&W board. I was waiting for a Golf Tournament to start and this BT kept flying in to the same tree. I investigated and noticed the worm.
Hersh, The first shot is super! I have not seen one of these in the wild yet - great color and detail. The Cardinal is very pretty and I alos like the background. Steve W
Clean, sharp shots, Hersh, with beautiful color and lighting.
Bronw Thrasher come down to the FL panhandle during the summer. There is a couple of Trashers that come to my backyard every year.

Grant, these are all beautiful. I really like the composition with the BT.
BTW: If you know some secret for how to keep those cute little guys in shot #2 out of the bird feeders, I would love to know. They are crafty little devils and somehow manage to thwart every effort I make to keep them out of the feeders. Perhaps they are just smarter than I am. Hmmmmm.
These are all wonderful. I like the squirrel portrait, very sharp and detailed. I don't think I have ever seen a thrasher before. Thanks for the treat.
Shot number 1 is superduperfantabulous. Great capture on 2 and 3 but 1 is by far the cleanest / sharpest / most colorful. Is there something you did different between shots 1 and the rest of the shots ? ISO appears higher in shots 2 and 3 and the light is much better in 1................. different lens/camera combo?
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Anthony the Brown Thrasher was shot in July 2007 with my old 30D and 70-200 f2.8 IS at 200mm, ISO 500, f5.0 @ 1/250 but I used the onboard flash as he was in the shade of the leaves. The Squirrel and Cardinals were taken Monday around 5:00 with the MkIII and 100-400 IS at 400mm f6.3, 1/320, ISO 800 for the Squirrel and ISO 1250 and 1/250 on the Cardinal. Had to jump the ISO up when I started losing light and I don't like to shoot the 100-400 at 5.6. Steve, I see the outline of my house in the left side of his eye but he is about 20 feet or so from the camera.
David, No secrets from me on how to keep these guys out of my feeders. They seem to find a way no matter what I try, but they are fun to watch.
Socrate, I rarely see the Brown Thrasher or the Blue Jay anymore. They used to be pretty common around the house but I just don't see them that much now. This one was taken in Milledgeville, GA on a Golf course there.
Steve W & Tim, I posted this because I couldn't remember ever seeing a Brown Thrasher posted on here before. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hi, Grant. To bad BTs aren't around your place any more. I know Brown Thrusher is the Georgia State bird. Maybe they will show up during the summer. Like I said, even if the Audubon guide says they are year-round here in the FL Panhandle, they only show up during the warm season, and it is always the same couple that I see in my yard. I can tell by a little growth in one of the BT's beack. I also still have planty of Blue Jays around.
Here is a shot I took last April of the BT in my backyard. I don't remember if I did posted this picture, but I do remember posting some pictures of them last Summer. Good luck with your BT.
