The 5D Mark II (body only) is showing shipping between 7-14 days, which for me is a little more concrete then Ritz who had no idea. Plus the 7% live cash back ($188.93) off (I'll get it in 60 days) makes me feel a bit more happy. Instead of $2700, a bit over $2500.

Yup, that's the best price out there right now. I have experienced cases where the cashback took way shorter than 60 days, in some instances even almost right away.

You have to go live.com and sign up. After that type in "Canon 5D MarkII", you may have to narrow your choice down further and go to that camera. You will see that there are 4 stores listed today. J&R is listed on the top as having/showing the 7% cashback off the retail price of $2,699.00. BTW, the cashback is not from J&R but from Microsoft. Good luck!

I'll keep my eyes peeled for other deals. I have two coworkers who are wanting this camera too, but they were out of the office today so I couldn't share with them.
Then go to the bottom and look for a link that says, "...and shop at 100's of stores." Click on that and using the alphabet, navigate to J&R. Of course, this is assuming that J&R has the best deal at the moment so that is why you are going to the store link directly. If you want to see a list of stores, then yes it is best to search as stated above. However, keep in mind that the list is not always complete.
Hypothetically speaking, it is possible for there to be an even better deal that is not listed in the list of stores of your search. For instance, there might be a dealer with a lower price or higher % off that isn't in sync with live search and therefore won't come up in the search. However, you can just click through using the store listings or via another item and then everything you buy during that session will have that % off. Once you get to that retailers site, then use that sites own search feature to look for the 5D Mark II.
I did this a while back when J&R didn't come up yet in the live.com search results for the 5D Mark II. I clicked through via another item and then found the 5D on J&R's site and pre-ordered it and got 7% off.

Was wondering if anyone got their 5D Mark II's from J&R? If so, any problems? Was thinking of ordering from them, but have never heard anything about their reputation.

Unless you need (or really want) this camera right now, I would suggest you wait about 2-3 months. As the economy gets worse, and PMA announcments come out, the price will continue to drop.

I have order several things from J&R, no issues what so ever. I will continue to use them as a good source.

I bought my 5D "classic" from J&R last April. At that time, they were willing to haggle on the price (over the phone, of course), and then I got them to throw in free FedEx overnight shipping.

J&R is a good store. But don't count on Live cashback. Microsoft is laying off employees and cutting expenses right now. They will do everything they can to avoid the cashback. I know a lot of people have received their cashbacks but there are a lot of people having their cashback cancelled for no good reason. It's like a scam. Just check BBB and you will found there are a lot of complaints again them.

J & R is still at 7%...I haven't seen them at anything than 7% for quite a while. I bought my 16-35mmII and 580exII there...the cashback $$ is sitting in my account. Net prices were $1161 and $341.06 respectively...not too far away from the used prices on the B&S forum. I've bought a good handful of things from J&R in the past...the store has always been excellent.

I'm still waiting for 5D2 - but in fairness to JR's, almost none of the other large retailers have them either. I talked to their customer service rep this week to get a feel for delivery. They had gotten 10 in which went out to the oldest orders. He also told there were 192 orders in the que but couldn't tell me where I was in the list.
To your other question, I've had good service at JR's on other orders.

Its that type of attitude that will contribute further to the economy getting worse. If you have the money (i.e. don't have significant CC debt, have a comfortable rainy day fund) then just go for it. You'll get to enjoy a great camera.
If everyone followed Nathan's advice (i.e. not spend with an expectation of falling prices), then people wouldn't buy anything. They wouldn't buy cameras, tvs, microwaves, eat out as much, or for those that make money from their photography, they aren't going to buy your services either. This in turn causes others to do the same. I'm not advocating that people spend irresponsibly but if you've got the money then go for it.
While you're at it buy a copy of Lightroom and Photoshop CS4 too

I pretty much agree with this-^
Also, with inflation and prices on everything going up up up, I wouldn't bank on any big discount anytime soon. The camera is still red "hot" as far as demand goes.
