p.1 #1 · Burst = Position & Shadows (Cranes)

Burst = Position & Shadows (Cranes)

Will (Trenchmonkey) and I discussed a couple of time using burst mode. I went thru some of my folders to pick out some that I think burst mode allowed me to get that extra photo. The position of the animal or bird changes especially when they are moving and shadows also come into play IMHO.

Canon 1D Mark3 MP&S with a Canon 500mm and a 1.4 converter. All using my BushHawk.

Yes I am a burst mode Junkie.

#1
One of about 7, I like the open mouth and the shadow.

#2
In the middle of about 10. This one made me smile.

#3
The next 5 are from 1 burst of about 18. Each one is a little bit different so can choose what ever one you like to keep.

Excellent points and I would have to agree with you even if I use the glacially slow burst of the 5d I think using burst while the bird is still in position will indeed give you the chance to get a pose you didn't even know was there. Love the light on your 4-9 series.

Tim, thanks for the nice comment. I have never turned off burst mode on any of my cameras.

Well Sir, the #4 thru #8 burst really drives home the point. You may have to retitle your rig...
The all new "RH 1DmkIII P&B" (point & burst). 16 GB cards are standing by....

Roger........bursting is good! Offers up some fractional moment captures. These are all good, just some moments caught a bit better than others. Looks like you were well dialed in on these, very nice.
So is there a belt mount 120GB hardrive to wire your bursts to yet?? Ha...
By the way, that 500 w/1.4x is sure looking good on results, wow.

Roger, These are great! The burst really allows you to pick your keepers. I think 8,9 and 10 are outstanding. Steve W

Hey Wacky R

Freaken great shots and wing positions. Excellent shots. I like em all with the eyes in great focus and color. Looks like the bushhawk is really kicken butt........... hmmmmm I may just order me one today. I've been hand holding the 500 with the 2x for practice. I figure if I can find and track the bird at 1000mm when I go back to the 1.4x it should be a breeze.

Nice job and love the SHC shots......... I'm amazed at how far away you can hear them coming with the sound they make >> It really carries a long way

Wonderful captures, Lighting and exposure is spot on and great focus on two cranes at once. Wonderful series.

Great shots, Roger. My only complaint is that the pictures should be larger! Disk and memory card companies really appreciate you shooting in burst mode all the time.

Great series Roger! Always shoot burst - when you do that in Servo mode, predictive focusing kicks in and the camera will predict where to focus on a moving subject taking into account shutter lag.

#2 really stands out! Nice pose in that one.
