Nice shot of one of those guys that don't sit still for long. It looks like he was doing his best at hiding in the branches, you got him at just the right time.

Thank you Tim! It was really hard to capture him in this pose. Out of about one hundred shots about ten were good to use

Brenton,

what I love about this shot is that is teaches me something new about WPs - - - I'm going to go by the assumption that it applies to all of them... When they go at it their eyelids cover & protect their eyes.

So not only did you catch it in action, as fast moving as they are, you also managed to teach me something new.

Great & I love learning so this was great.

Thanks Lil Judd! I did not know that they had an eye cover, so that explians why the eye looks weird!

For those that would like to know that eyelid is called nictitating membrane. Something that birds, sharks and reptiles all share. A link for further reading:

Nice capture, Brenton. I can't believe that you were able to get a hundred shots off of this guy. You did a nice job with this capture. I still have trouble identifying the Hairy versus the Downy. I just don't see enough of them to know if I am looking at a Juvenile Hairy vs an adult Downy. You have any more as clear as this one, please post it. I suppose the more of these that I see here on FM, the better I will get at identifying them in the wild. Thanks for the post.
