p.1 #1 · Eye One 2 Calibration Results - Come Vote

Hey everyone. Just moved, and recalibrated the system.

I'm currently work from home on a Samung 215TW, calibrated in advanced mode with a Eye One 2 Display Calibration unit.

So what the poll asks... Which image looks better?

Please follow the rules, and only vote for the images if you're on a calibrated system.

You may reply if you want and state what you're working on, etc.

I'm calibrated with a Huey.

I chose number 1 as it has a nice warm tone. Number two is just a little to cold.

If I had a choice - I would have picked the one right in the middle between these two.

2 definitely has problems in the shadows.

There's barely any detail in the hair since it got clipped to black.

3 is just a touch cooler than 1 but it's so subtle that it almost comes down to personal preference. Now if you were comparing black and white images, that might make a difference but for 1 and 3, on a calibrated monitor, I see no real problems.

Personally, I prefer the skin tone of 3 and the colour of the hair in 1 but that's all subjective and can be changed through editing. The blue background in 3 looks a little more pleasant to my eye.

2 on the other hand has way too much contrast. The details in the dark hair has been lost and the highlights on the face is a little too strong.

#2 is hosed in the hair. Whether one likes #1 or #3 is personal preference I suppose, I happen to like the warmer tones in #1 and think most customers would.
