Okay, I admit to being a little stir crazy being stuck at home this weekend. With a full dose of cabin fever, I decided to shoot my only available subjects. These guys were the only ones showing up at the feeder, so you take what you can get.
I like the first, nice expression and comp, the dof works well. I understand wanting to get out and shoot when the weather or animals aren't going to cooperate! Sometimes winter is tuff, other times it give us great oppertunities.
Thanks Tim for your comments. They are appreciated.
My goal in taking these was to get my practice in for the weekend. I'm still getting to know my equipment and I looking forward to the day that my camera and lens will become a natural extension of my body, so that I don't have to think, just react.
Great minds think alike! Hope you don't mind, John, but I thought I'd throw this one in for good measure. Besides, who doesn't like squirrels! I must confess, I was bribing them with peanuts. This guy (or gal, as the case may be) was fond of grabbing two at a time!
I love squirrels & have to admit that once I realized they were stealing the wild bird's seed I started giving them peanuts. I swear they know the word "peanuts" now. I call them & let them know I've put out their nuts. Just as I call all the sparrow & finches in the neighborhood (according to my husband).
Still, I ensure they can fend for themselves so I don't totally spoil them.
Thanks everybody for your comments. I'm hoping that this weekend provides for better material to present in this forum. I'm due for a good eagle or owl picture. Thanks again,
I was within 30 feet, using my 100-400 L Canon, 1/250th at 5.6, aperture priority mode, ISO 1800, white balance on cloudy, handheld, sitting in my blind in my back yard freaking out my neighbors.
