p.1 #1 · Will Amazon be able to help me?

So this is somewhat of a long story. I ordered a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens from Amazon back in December. The lens perform well without any problems. However, I notice that there is a bubble inside. This is inside the lens and I can see it from all angles regardless of the lighting condition. The problem is that it's been more than 30 days since I order the lens and I notice it now. Do you think Amazon will allow me to exchange for another one? There are no scratches or any worn marks on the lens. I'm going to wait for some opinions before I proceed to call them.

After 30 days amazon will not exchange. You can always send it into CanonUSA and have them take a look at it.

Why? You can email them. Their customer service responds to emails quickly.

Most of the time a small bubble, even if visible, will not dramatically impact the image. Does it?

It's not really reasonable for Amazon to refund after you have had it for this length of time. If it doesn't affect image quality I would ignore it. If it does, contact Canon. They are great to work with.

Call Amazon? Lotsa luck. Let me know if you ever find a phone number on their site. IMHO customer service is a foreign concept there. I think your best bet is contact Canon if anything needs to be done with the lens.

I just want to be clear that I'm not after a refund, but rather going for an exchange. I don't see anything wrong with asking on FM before calling Amazon, but I guess I'll contact Canon in regards to this.

To everyone else, I don't see any flaws in the pictures as a result of the 1 bubble.

Sorry - I meant to say I didn't think they would refund or exchange after that length of time; and you are right that it can't hurt to ask. I have found them very good to work with but definitely staying within their framework of time. Normally if I email I get a response within a few hours (discounting the instant reply which basically states they will get back to me.) When I received a tripod which was damaged in transit, they sent me another one day Fed Ex - it arrived before UPS had picked up the first one.

Contacting Amazon is really simple, just go to the support page and on the right side (after you login to your account) you see "Contact Us", select Phone, enter your phone # and they will call you right away...or you can call them

You can still reach us the old-fashioned way but you'll miss out on all the benefits of our faster, easier Call Me service.
It's your choice. Click the Call Me button or you can reach us at 1-866-216-1072 to use our automated customer service system.

Never saw that before. Now I know. I have been quite POed at them for a long time with the lack of customer service & what seemed to be hiding from customers. Still won't use them, but I'm happy to see that they at least have a way to contact them.
