p.1 #1 · Two for the Money

It's cold outside today 01-20-2008. Low 20's all day. I have been processing basketball pictures since 8:00am this morning. It is now 3:30 and should be watching football. I have seen many of my little friends outside off and on all day. I come up for a breath of air and some cheese. Holy shit........................................... I knew sooner or later it would happen. Captures taken thru a double window. Yee haa.............

Hi Ted
Same thing I was saying yesterday......holy.........! I was sitting on the couch next to my bay window watching of course......football and the feeders when something smashed in to the window. I turned around to see a few feathers floating and thought ouch that had to hurt. I got up to look on the ground for the bird only to find a Red Shoulder Hawk had nailed a cardinal ! No, I wasn't lucky enought to get a shot off but saw him fly off with a beautiful male in his talons!

I like the curious look on your guy, maybe you were munching on some chicken wings he wanted! Neat shots...........

Nice Ted! Nice you had your camera handy. Great captures. Love those eyes. It kind of looks like a Redtail puppet show. That first shot is not what you want to see when you're trying to get something to eat at the feeder. Yikes!

Love the "look" in the first one Ted.

You're lucky.... I was out riding/exercising my two horses, one ponied (on a lead) next to the one I was riding. When I come upon either a red tailed or red-shouldered hawk. I was less than 10 feet from the bird which could not have cared less about me & the horses. It did look at us, but went back to scanning the ground for pray. I was furious - - no camera whatsoever, not even a little P&S.

Now I'm riding with a camera, but I've not been that lucky again. I'm so upset. It was the perfect photo opportunity & no camera. With my luck it'll not ever happen again. I might as well give up & go back to a P&S camera.

Congrats on your great opportunity.

Llooks like the hawk came up for a breath of air and some of your cheese, too, Ted. For the record, what kind of cheese?

Thanks so much Lil. You are right about being lucky. To have the hawk land and for me to have a camera ready. You will get another opportunity.

Two varieties Ken, jalepenjo pepper cheese and horseradish cheese. The first is very spicy. Great with a bloody mary.

Very nice Ted - I have them circling over the yard and am waiting for the day when I can call the kids to the window so they can watch one of the hawks munching on a squirrel

Did you share your buffalo wings
