Will,

Thank you for posting the camera and lens combo used for this shot. I will probably never be able to afford any of the big lenses (400 2.8, etc), but I do own a 40D and 100-400. This shot (and so many other wonderful shots that you have posted) inspire me that maybe one day I too can get some great shots using what I already own (and not what I'm always dreaming about).

Proof positive, once again, that the most important component is what is found behind the camera body and not what is attached to the front of it.

PS - nice to see that Ichabod still has his head.

Thank you, David. It's a great combo...being able to pull back to 200mm...priceless.

Great photos Will. Is this still at Bosque and if so how long does the cranes stay there?

Appreciate it, Tobias! This isn't BdA but in the bosque about 80 miles North in Peralta.
They stay close to the river (Rio Grande) and are usually here from late October thru
the end of February. The BIG numbers are down at the BdA but pockets of sandhills
and snow geese can be found for a hundred miles or so all along the river bosque.

Cool deal! And I must confess that I love the group shots the best - pairs, hundreds, the more the better so far as I'm concerned from Bosque!!

Will, Nice shot - great color in the wings. If the sun ever comes back for a day and the wind drops down I'll be calling before I head down south. I have seen lots of geese and cranes in the fields even with the crap weather. Steve W
