I just accessed my profile and changed the email notification setting without any difficulty. I clicked the "My Profile" choice on the bar at the top of the page, and "Edit Profile" appeared next to my screen name on the profile itself. I made the change, clicked "submit change" and that was it.
Was there anything different in the sequence that you followed, Guy?
I have rechecked and sometimes I get the question "do you want to change the password for user gugs" before the access forbidden message (server message) with the request to contact the webmaster.... I really don't know what to do
I just tried to change some gear in my signature and I get this message;
"FYI
Another user is using the email that you entered. Please use a different one."
I have tried a few times am I doing something wrong? The email is mine and I am logged in. How can someone else be using my email, it must be me, I am logged in.
Any advise?

You had another username under the same email address (Bruce E). I just deleted it since it was very old and had no posts. You should be able to edit your profile now.
