p.1 #1 · Google Images

I was wondering what everyone thought about Google Images? I'm not sure if having some of your images appear in Google Images will help or hurt business. I've noticed lately that some of my images are now being picked up by the Google Images bot.

I'm not sure if I should tell the bot to leave my images alone, or let them display them when people search for images. It also makes me wonder if I need to think about a large copyright mark that covers the entire image.

Does anyone have a feeling about Google Images, good or bad?

Thanks,
Justin

I've had some images hot-linked thanks to showing up in search engines. I regularly check my website stats to monitor bandwidth thieves.

Yes, a copyright mark will help...but the bottom line is, if you put an image on the web, and the page doesn't require a secure login, consider that image in the public domain...it WILL get stolen...it's not a question of IF, rather WHEN.

Yup. If you don't want your work getting "out there", don't put it on the web. Once it's out there, it's out there.

"Trying to take an image off the internet is like trying to take all the pee out of a swimming pool."

It's out there. Watermark your images and let them work for you in the form of free advertising. No need to resist the way things are. Go with the flow.
