p.1 #1 · How to carry rechargeable batteries?

Anybody have some good practical solutions? I've got rechargeable AA batteries for my flash units, an extra battery for my cell phone (bluetooth modem) and the various rechargeables for my camera bodies. Some of the camera batteries have caps which guard against shorting out the contacts, but the others don't.

Has anybody found any little plastic cases that work well, or any other solutions? I have from time to time fried some of the AAs by unintentionally shorting the contacts.

Thanks for offering your solutions!

Michael

Cases specific to AA's are easy to find and inexpensive. Check http://www.thomas-distributing.com/index.htm, for example. Canon BP-511's can be stored by the pair in a plastic Sucrets or Altoids box.

For AA batteries...I keep the plastic case that comes with Energizer Max batteries and re-use it. I'm sure you have something in the house (TV remote, portable CD player, etc.) that you use Alkaline AAs in, right? So, it's FREE with purchase of those batteries.

For BP-511/BP-511a...if you have any non-OEM batteries which didn't come with the cap (like the OEM batteries from Canon)...a Sucrets box holds two perfectly (there's a fairly recent thread in Canon forum where someone contacted the company and receive 24 of them in the mail.

Check out the Batuca brand - the cases snap together and aren't much larger than the batteries. Link is to an outdoors survival site:

They are cheap and they pack very slim in your camera case.

I carry spare 4 AAs in a Sony CycleEnergy NiMH battery charger, BCG-34HLD. Its 4 AAs wide by about 1.75 AAs high. This recharger workes worldwide and the cord works in my Epson P2000, and the 1Dm2 recharger. I have both the European and the US version of the cord so no matter where I go I only need to take one cord.

When I carried a lot of rechargables (24 for 6 Moris slaves, plus more for other gizmos), I used a small Canon draw string lens sack.
