Having recently purchased a MKIII, I'm about to sell my beloved "n", and need to be able to tell potential buyers the shutter count. I've looked all over for places to buy Cancount, and only find one European site that I don't understand and seems like a real hassle to order from. So..... if there is someone here to whom I can send a crop of a RAW file, and who could let me know the actual shutter actuations on my camera, I'd really appreciate it. I must have spent 2 hours last night messing around with all sorts of programs, and following all sorts of advice, so at this point, I'd just love to be able to send somebody one of my files to get a sure shutter count.
The count I need is for the MKIIn, not the MKIII. I just noticed that Breezebrowser gives an "image count" number. I wounder if this is always an accurate number, or can it be fooled by using an unformatted CF card from another camera?
They won't be fooled simply by using an unformatted card from another camera, but they all can be fooled by loading settings from another camera, as that apparently resets the counter in the camera.
Last I heard the 1D III has eliminated the counter entirely.

Thanks Nil....... The Breezebrowser image number seems to be within the ballpark of what I expected, so I'm just going to go with that number. I'll let prospective buyers know where the number came from, and offer a RAW or whatever file for them to check on if they like.

Try using CaptureOne. Simply open the RAW file and show info. Use the file info menu to show the exposure number.
Thanks for the advice; but I don't have CaptureOne. Have lightroom, Breezebrowser, Cs2, and of course DPP. At this point I'm going to go with the "Image counter" number in Breezebrowser, as it seems to be in the ballpark.
