p.1 #1 · Sensor cleaning

Wondering if any have used the sensi-swab cleaning method on their canon sensors? I have used it with good results on my Nikon cameras but have never tried it on my Canon ones. Have some spots that just won't give up and I am ready to take them to my compressor ANYBODY

I have used it and it works fine. Just follow directions.

Why would expect there to be a difference between the Canon and Nikon results?

well, I just had a recent 2 week fight with a couple of dust spots that just wouldn't leave. I finally bought some eclipse and pecpads. I put the pad folded over the end of a sensor swab with a drop of fluid and Voila! all clean. Oh and I always get the smaller sized swabs for my 5d sensor so I have room to get in the corners more easily, I hate directions/rules , they're for perfect circumstances.

Well Nathan I read the canon has a filter in front of their sensor to help protect the sensor but does make the sharpness a bit softer than the Nikon ones so if this is so and I read this on a canon forum awhile ago than I was wondering if the swab could damage this filter? From what I am getting back I guess not so it gets the treatment

Eclipse and pecpads will clear any stubborn dust spot.

Both manufacturers have an AA filter in front of the sensor so you are actually cleaning that filter. I have heard that the Canon AA filter is a bit stronger than Nikon's...thus creates slightly softer images. I don't know about that.

It is made of glass so careful cleaning should not damage either camera.

Lou, I have used Q-tips slightly moistened with a solution of 50% isopropyl alcohol and 50% water on all my DSLR's without any problems. I buff the sensor with a dry Q-tip and then just blow into the chamber.

It may take a few tries, but is cheaper than buying all these fancy gizmos that don't work any better.

I thank all who offered their info and I might add the one spot that was giving me trouble finely blew out.
Tony your methods are as good as you photos and there pretty good. Thanks.
