I am so glad. Today i got my 70-200 f/4.0 IS, it is so awsome i love this lens. I am looking forward to skipping school tommorow and taking a bunch of pictures. this was well worth all of my work. If you are scared to buy it you have nothing to worry about. This is my first L lens and it sure won't be the last. The next lens might be a 24-70, i think that would be a nice complementing lens.
Yeah... we're all good and happy that you've got a warm feeling opening the box... but we'll give you a whole lot more attention if you actually post some images for us to argue about.
How about a new FM rule: all "Yay, I got XXX in the mail today" postings must EITHER a) give us some kind of information, or B) give us something fun to look at.
BTW... it is hard to convey tone over this intarwebsnet thing... but the above is said with humor in mind.
One nit to pick though... if you haven't actually shot stuff with it (and have had it only part of a day)... how can you say that it is an awesome lens. Giving us the advice that ordering this lens leaves us with nothing to worry about doesn't really come off as A-1 advice if you haven't even used it for shooting (and it is your first L)... I'm guessing that you've got a lil case of gear-fetish going on!
Either way you see it.. ENJOY (now that the pedant in me is done... I bet you'll love it).
Yeah i am not skipping school, i am 15 and my parents would be really mad. I will post pictures tomorow i wish i could not but were i live it is dark right now.

Ha! So true. I always think this to myself when I read posts like these. "Wow, I just got my new lens today! I've mostly just looked at it... and picked it up and held it a few times... but it's the best lens EVER! You've just gotta buy one of these, you won't regret it!"

I couldn't even think of owning an L lens when I was fifteen. Wait a minute, there were no L lenses when I was fifteen! There were only manual focus, non-IS, klunky, all black, manual aperture, non-coated lenses, when I was that age .

A $1,000+ lens at age 15? yikes. When I was 15, I scooped Chinese food at Panda Express making $4.25/hr. It took me months to save up enough for a point and shoot Canon Sureshot. How times have changed...
I've got mine, not as bitingly sharp as the non IS model but as soon as I trouble to bother CPS to calibrate it as I do with all my other lenses I expect it to be at least as good.
now adays we can make a lot more money. im 17 right now and got my 1600 dollar lens. when i was 15 i was working at a snowcone place in front of walmart making 7/hr plus tips making couple hundred a week. lifeguards are a good job too, i did that for the summer getting 9/hr to sit back and tan lol
I don't know, when I was 16 and the internet was young I taught myself HTML, formed a limited company and bought myself a car (2nd hand) and a top spec computer in 6 months until I got bored of the whole thing...
Must be nice to be 15 and have a 1K lens. I'm 32 and I have a hard time buying another 1K lens. I'm still paying for my 24-105L, 70-200 F4L, and my 30D..HA...
