Just ordered a Sigma 10-20mm and was wondering if any of you guys have this lens and which 77mm UV/Skylight filter you're using. Will I need one of the really thin ones to avoid vignetting, or will a standard Nikon, Hoya, etc. work o.k.? Also, where are you getting filters at a decent price?
Anyways... I put B+W 010 UV on my Sigma 10-20 and I havn't noticed any vignetting yet. Most of my shots are long exposure at nights though. But anyhow in B+W I trust...
I do architectural interior work. The Sigma had too much distortion for this kind of shooting. I liked it in every way but that. Build quality, sharpness, colors, all good, and the extra width is really a big plus for small spaces.
For artistic purpose, it's a great lens. But not for work work presenting a product, especially not with matching shapes, like a row of windows or cabinet doors. It makes the ones near the edge of the frame much wider than the rest.
The distortion between 10-12mm is really odd. In a sense that the distortion/bending is not smooth. If they sell the Tokina up here in Canada, I would've probably gone with the Tokina.
